Still, many companies and many executives are in denial, thinking that somehow they are immune to these powerful disruptive forces. Make no mistake; no one is immune. All industries can fall prey to commoditization and obsolescence.&nbsp; And no one is moving fast enough to outpace threats and take advantage of opportunities.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Disruption is often defined as \u201ca shift in relative profitability from one business model to another.\u201d While recently this has typically been driven by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sisinternational.com\/fr\/solutions\/innovation-technologique\/\" title=\"SIS Technology &amp; Innovation Solutions\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"9707\">technology and digital innovation<\/a>, this is not always the case.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Perturbation num\u00e9rique dans la mobilit\u00e9 et les paiements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Take one of the biggest disruption success stories of our era: Uber. The technology behind Uber wasn\u2019t disruptive itself. Each piece of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sisinternational.com\/fr\/solutions\/recherche-de-conseil-en-strategie-fintech\/etude-de-marche-sur-les-technologies-de-paiement\/\" title=\"\u00c9tude de march\u00e9 sur les technologies de paiement\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"9704\">technology enabling their product\u2014mobile payments<\/a>, GPS, etc\u2014already existed. What was disruptive about Uber was the way they leveraged that technology into a new business model that took advantage of the rise in the gig economy. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to Bill Gates, we have a tendency to overestimate the amount of change that is possible on a 2 year time frame, and greatly underestimate the amount of change possible over a 10 year time frame. Successfully navigating disruption requires a balance. It requires a balance of short and long-term thinking, and a balance of reactive and proactive action. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading p1\"><span class=\"s1\">En mati\u00e8re de disruption num\u00e9rique, le succ\u00e8s engendre davantage de succ\u00e8s. <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This success is characterized by Positive Feedback Loops, Zero Marginal Cost or significant Economies of Scale.\u00a0 Take social media as an example. The more users there are on a platform, the more revenue that platform can generate through advertising. Additionally, the more users there are on a platform, the more likely others are to join. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Plus d&#039;utilisateurs attirent plus d&#039;utilisateurs, ce qui g\u00e9n\u00e8re plus de revenus. <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This positive feedback loop can be seen in several industries, whether its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sisinternational.com\/fr\/le-tresor-de-donnees-des-reseaux-sociaux-pour-les-chercheurs-en-marketing\/\" title=\"\u00c9tude de march\u00e9 sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux\u00a0: opportunit\u00e9s et d\u00e9fis\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"9705\">social media networks<\/a>, PC operating systems, smartphones, ride-sharing applications, and others.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Pour r\u00e9ussir, il faut atteindre une masse critique, un niveau de volume cl\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Parfois, la perturbation signifie supprimer les interm\u00e9diaires, mais pas toujours. <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In some cases, cutting out the middleman doesn\u2019t work at all. For example, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) weren\u2019t successful when they tried to cut out the \u201cmiddlemen\u201d of universities. However, companies like Coursera successfully partnered with the universities to provide a disruptive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sisinternational.com\/fr\/strategie-marketing-dans-les-services-educatifs\/\" title=\"Strat\u00e9gie marketing dans les services \u00e9ducatifs\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"9706\">service in education<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Examples of Digital Disruption are everywhere, in any industry you can think of, and everyone from New York City to Silicon Valley is talking about it. In a business context, the term has become so prolific since Clayton Christensen first introduced it in 1995 that many have complained that is has transformed from a revolutionary concept into an empty buzzword.
